Learning to play our part in the Game of Life is itself a spiritual practice. In the Andean tradition, life is understood as a sacred Game in which we are both participants and co-creators—called to engage with humility, responsibility, curiosity, creativity and wonder. Across cultures, we find resonant ways of understanding this mysterious human experience: the Hindu concept of Lila as divine play, the Buddhist teaching of Māyā and the nature of our perceptions and identities, and the idea of Earth School as a “cosmic classroom,” elucidated by Ram Dass, in which our experiences become a curriculum for consciousness.
Each offers a different lens through which to ask the same essential question: How do I learn to play my part in this interconnected tapestry of life with honesty, humility, integrity and creativity, while learning what my soul came here to know and become? The Pachakuti Mesa offers us a tangible spiritual technology through which we can explore the vast universe and our place in it, as well as discover the living practices of relationship, listening, reciprocity and love as guideposts along our path.
